Double Deep Pallet Racking

Steps Of Cooperation

High-Capacity Selective Storage for Easy Access to Bulk Pallets

Double deep pallet racking is a high-density storage system that stores pallets two rows deep instead of one. It increases storage capacity by reducing the number of aisles needed, while still allowing selective access to stock with the use of specialised forklifts (such as reach trucks). This system strikes a balance between selectivity and space efficiency, making it ideal for warehouses with medium to low SKU variety and high volumes per SKU.

Pros

– Higher storage density than selective racking

– Fewer aisles required — maximises floor space

– Suitable for storing medium-turnover or similar SKUs

– More cost-effective than drive-in racking systems

– Compatible with most existing warehouse layouts

Cons

– Requires reach trucks or deep-reach forklifts

– Operates on a Last-In, First-Out (LIFO) basis

– Reduced access compared to selective racking

– Not ideal for high SKU variety or frequent stock rotation
